This figure was nearly double the demand volume reported in 2008, with natural gas having become the largest source for electricity generation in the U.S. Other notable changes in end use have been observed for LNG exports. The U.S. began exporting LNG in 2016 and natural gas demand for LNG exports has since grown to ** billion cubic feet per day.
