Global climate finance and losses due to climate change 2025-2100, by scenario
Economic losses due to climate change are estimated at trillion U.S. dollars between 2025 and 2100 under a business-as-usual (BAU) scenario. If global temperature increase is limited to *** degrees Celsius, climate change losses during the same period could be lowered to trillion U.S. dollars. This would result in over trillion U.S. dollars in avoided losses when comparison to the BAU scenario. Less than *** trillion U.S. dollars of climate finance would be required worldwide between 2025 and 2050 for adaptation and mitigation, or roughly ** percent of avoided losses.
