In a 2023 survey, ** percent of British consumers said that more independent businesses would improve their high street, making it the amenity most desired by consumers to make their local shopping street better. Banks and chain clothes stores made up the top three. Conversely, consumers wanted to see fewer vape stores, fast food outlets, and charity shops on their high street.
