According to a 2024 survey, roughly half of surveyed museums in the United States reported lower attendance that year compared to pre-pandemic levels. While this suggested that the impact of COVID-19 on museum visits in the U.S. was still significant in 2024, it also denoted an improvement over 2023, when two-thirds of surveyed institutions experienced lower visitation compared to 2019.Â
