According to a 2023 survey, the majority of Americans were supportive of long-term U.S. military bases in European countries and other key allied nations. Just over 60 percent of respondents thought that long-term bases in Germany was a good idea, compared to 50 percent who thought the U.S. should have military bases in Turkey.
