According to a 2023 survey, almost 80 percent of Republicans in the U.S. agreed that the use of military troops would be justified to stop immigrants entering the U.S. from Mexico, compared to only 23 percent of Democrats. However, the majority of respondents agreed that the use of U.S. military could be justified if Russia invades a NATO ally like Germany, regardless of their political party.
