France reduced its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by roughly ** percent between 1990 and 2021. The country had previously set the target of cutting GHG emissions by ** percent below 1990 levels by 2030, but in May 2023, the French government unveiled a more ambitious plan to cut emissions by ** percent by 2030. This will bring France's ambitions in line with the EU's emissions reduction target for 2030.Â
