In 2023, the number of debit cards issued in Germany rose by more than 6.4 percent in the second half of the year. The number of debit cards in the first half of the year stood at nearly 135 million, which increased to 143 million in the later half of the year. Furthermore, during the same time frame, the ratio of debit cards per million individuals increased from 1.59 to 1.69.
