In 2023, the number of debit cards issued in Belgium rose by more than 14 percent in the second half of the year. The number of debit cards in the first half of the year stood at over 21.1 million, which increased to more than 24.3 million in the later half of the year. Furthermore, during the same time frame, the ratio of debit cards per million individuals increased from 1.81 to 2.06.
