According to Deloitte's Food Frugality Index, polled consumers have responded to the rising prices in food with frugal behaviors such as purchasing more affordable options of different products, including cheaper meats, store brands, and reducing food waste. From May 2024, consumers in Mexico tended to be less frugal in their food spending, with the index staying under the **** baseline (100). This trend went up to ** in ** and remained below ** in later months, suggesting a slight decrease in frugality when purchasing food at grocery stores.
