The survey was distributed on Facebook and Instagram and was available in English, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, and Somali. The survey reached drivers in 35 U.S. states and in the District of Columbia.
86 percent of respondents drove for Uber, 65 percent drove for Lyft, and one percent of respondents drove for other companies.

Reasons for continuing unsafe rides among U.S. ride-share drivers 2023
According to a 2023 survey, ride-hailing drivers of color in the United States were most likely to cite concerns about receiving negative reviews, which might lead to their account being deactivated, as the reason for continuing a ride with passengers who made them feel unsafe. Among white drivers the concern most likely to lead them to continue an unsafe trip was a violent response from the passengers, being cited by ** percent of respondents. Although not the most common concern in this group, this reason was cited by a larger share of drivers of color, ** percent, than by white drivers.
