In 2022, there were 30 new policies and measures related to methane abatement worldwide. 26 of these policies were on a national level, while four were international. In 2021, the United States and European Union announced the Global Methane Pledge, which aims to reduce global methane emissions by 30 percent from 2020 levels by 2030.Â
