The Sahel region, which here refers to Niger, Burkina Faso, and Mali, has been plagued by insecurity and terrorist activity in recent years. The number of attacks peaked in 2022, when 551 attacks were registered. Burkina Faso registered the highest number of the three in 2022 with 324 incidents.
