In 2022, the Chinese authorities seized *** tons of heroin in the country, of which **** tons were produced in the "Golden Triangle" area, located along the borders between Myanmar, Laos, and Thailand. Only *** percent of all heroin seized in China was produced in the "Golden Crescent" region, including parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey. China has one of the most stringent anti-narcotic laws in the world. Drug smugglers caught carrying more than ** grams of heroin into the country can be subjected to capital punishment.
