In 2022, the Chinese authorities seized **** tons of heroin, methamphetamine, and ketamine in the country, of which **** tons were smuggled from abroad, mostly from Southeast Asia and South America. China has one of the most stringent anti-narcotic laws in the world. Drug smugglers caught carrying more than ** grams of heroin, methamphetamine, or cocaine into the country can be subject to the death penalty.
