Replacing a gas furnace with a heat pump in California reduced on average ** percent of carbon emissions from day one in 2021. In some U.S. states heat pumps had a much smaller impact on the reduction of emissions on day one. For example, heat pumps in Wisconsin had on average ** percent less emissions than gas furnaces. Nevertheless, heat pumps could reduce up to ** percent of carbon emissions during a 15-year lifespan.
