Among the survey respondents, around 71 percent were between 18 and 45 years old;
51.5 percent were female;
around 29 percent had primary education, 34 percent had secondary or technical secondary school education, and 37 percent had higher education;
around 66 percent were from urban areas;
around 55 percent earned between 30 and 50 thousand yuan a year; 19 percent earned less than 30 thousand yuan.

According to a survey conducted in China in spring of 2023, more than half of surveyed residents from Yulin said that a potential banning of dog and cat meat consumption in the city would affect their lives, but the impact would not be high since they currently eat dog or cat meat only occasionally. Approximately ** percent of respondents said such a ban would have no impact in their lives whatsoever as they don't consume dog or cat meat.
Yulin city in Guangxi province of China is infamous for its annual Dog Meat Festival which draws a lot of criticism internationally as well as concerns about animal cruelty, dog thefts, etc.
