A study published in November 2025 looked at the leading destinations for trips abroad among European Union (EU-27) member countries. In 2024, was the leading outbound destination for Austrian, German, Greek, Maltese, and Romanian travelers. Meanwhile, accounted for the highest share of outbound trips in France, Italy, and Portugal. Overall, while represented the highest share of trips abroad among EU countries in 2019, ranked first in 2024.
