The National Psychosis Registry lists veterans who sought VHA treatment for serious mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or other psychotic disorders during a specific calendar year. However, not all major mental illnesses' associated diagnoses are included. As a result, the registry acts as a stand-in for significant mental illness but does not fully represent the number of veterans who are affected.
