From 2020 through 2023, Western Asia recorded the highest number of conflicts involving water – either as a trigger, a weapon, or a casualty – with a total of *** occurrences. This was followed by Southern Asia, with ** conflicts reported during the same period. Both regions also saw the largest number of water-related conflicts throughout the past decade. In terms of countries, Palestine suffered the most water conflicts worldwide in 2023.
