Brazil has the largest renewable surface water resources worldwide, at an estimated billion cubic meters. This is roughly twice the amount of renewable surface water available in Russia, which has the second-largest figure. In contrast, many countries worldwide lack renewable surface water resources, such as Kuwait, which has the highest renewable water resources dependency ratio worldwide. Surface water is any body of water above ground, such as streams, rivers, and lakes.
