As of the last quarter of 2022, there were 193,108 businesses majority-owned by women, among all private sector businesses in Canada (just over one million). The provinces with the most women-owned companies were Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia, the same provinces with the largest number of private sector companies.
In terms of proportion, the province of Manitoba had the fewest majority women-owned firms compared to the total number of private sector firms.
