The annual number of passengers transported by the public transit company in Rotterdam, Netherlands (RET) increased gradually between 2013 and 2019. In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the transit ridership in the most important port city in Europe dropped by ** percent compared with 2019 levels. In the following three years passenger numbers grew again and totaled *** million in 2023, however, not yet reaching pre-pandemic levels.
