For the fiscal year 2025, the Japanese Ministry of Defense (MOD) has provided approximately ****Â trillion Japanese yen for the acquisition of military equipment through foreign military sales (FMS). Representative items include military equipment such as the F-35A jet fighter for the Air Self-Defense Forces, the SM-3 Block IIA ship-based surface-to-air missile system for the Maritime Self-Defense Forces, and the V-22 Osprey (vertical takeoff and landing aircraft) for the Ground Self-Defense Forces.
