The National Health Service (NHS) was established in 1948 and has since evolved to become the world's largest publicly funded healthcare system to which all UK residents have access. According to a survey conducted in January 2022 in Great Britain, half of all respondents stated they were not at all confident in the UK Government's ability to address current problems in the NHS. A further 31 percent reported being not very confident, and just two percent claimed to be very confident in the Government's capacity to address the problems within the NHS.
Qualified ambulance staff
The end of 2022 and the beginning of 2023 witnessed numerous strikes from NHS staff, with ambulance staff and nurses asking for pay rises to reflect the cost of living and inflation rates. There were around 17.6 thousand qualified NHS ambulance professionals in 2021, up from 16.7 thousand the previous year. Overall, 2019 had the highest number of qualified ambulance crew, with a total of 21.38 thousand.
NHS staff turnover
Between March 2020 and March 2021, over 17 thousand Hospitals and Community Health Service (HCHS) doctors left England's NHS workforce. Additionally, throughout the same examined period, 29.9 thousand nurses left the NHS. In 2021, a considerable amount of NHS workers felt that there were not enough staff at there organization to enable them to do their job properly.
