The index is a standard diffusion index and is based on a quarterly survey among NMHC members. A value over ** indicates growing sales volumes, while under **, it indicates that the market is contracting. In October 2021, the sales volume index reached its peak at ** index points, meaning that sales volumes had increased the most according to industry experts. In July 2024, the index stood at ** index points, noting an improvement from the October 2022 dip.Â
