Respondents were located in Austria, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
When asked what might encourage Europeans to buy or hire an e-bike in 2022, motivations around cost were the top responses among respondents to a survey carried out in August of that year. Nearly ** respondents thought that the cost of living might be a motivating factor to use an electric bike, and an e-bike subsidy was considered to be an incentive by about ** percent of respondents. About respondents also believed that environmental, mental, physical health, and road safety concerns play a role in buying or hiring an electric bike.
