* Countries along the BRI refers to a selection of main BRI participating countries used in official statistics in China until 2021. This selection did not include all countries participating in the BRI (around 142 in 2021), but only a selection of participating countries which were located along major trade routes of the BRI (63 in 2021).
**ÌýAll BRI participating countries refers to all countries that had signed the Memorandum of Understanding of the BRI in that specific year. Since 2022, official Chinese statistics on BRI countries commonly refer to this broader term of BRI countries. As of December 2023, around 150 countries had signed the BRI MoU.
