The number of jobs does not correspond to the number of people who are obliged to make social security contributions, these figures are shown in other tables in the publication.

In 2022, there were almost **** million newly employed people with employment contracts in Germany. This was an increase compared to 2020 and 2021. The total number of contracted employees who contributed to social security decreased to million in 2021.
