Between 2015 and 2021, the number of beds in pediatric wards in China increased by more than ** percent. Although the birth rate in China started to decline in recent years, the demands for the treatment of pediatric diseases remained at a significant level, with bed occupancy rates in pediatric wards sometimes exceeding ** percent. To meet the demands of the patients, more children's hospitals were built in the past decade, while pediatric wards in general hospitals also expanded substantially.
