Meta’s next-generation VR headset is revealed

Meta Quest 3 was announced by Mark Zuckerberg in an Instagram post on June 1, 2023. Meta Quest 3 features a higher resolution, a stronger performance, innovative Meta Reality technology, and a slimmer, more comfortable design. The release of such a device serves as the latest bet on the metaverse by Zuckerberg, albeit despite the company’s Reality Labs segment facing a number of challenges as it reports significant operating losses.

Following hot on the heels of Meta’s announcement, Apple's long-awaited product debut in the extended reality (XR) space also arrived in June 2023, introduced to the world as part of the company’s annual developer conference. Apple Vision Pro is designed primarily for mixed reality, in which real and virtual worlds can interact with one another.
