In this statistic only startups that had already used external capital were counted.
The data comes from the German Startup Monitor (DSM), for which high-quality data sets are collected annually from founders and managing directors of startups. The founders or managing directors (members of the executive board e.g. chief level) of startups received a special questionnaire link by email which was sent through selected DSM network partners. In 2023, 1,825 complete data sets were collected for the survey between May 17 and June 20, 2023.
