As of the end of March 2023, Germany had ** million tons of oil equivalent in strategic crude oil reserves. This was basically unchanged compared to the same time a year before. According to the legal framework in Germany, the government is required to ensure a certain level of crude oil reserves to be able to combat future shortages, at least temporarily.
