The Greater Bay Area is the Chinese government's scheme linking the cities of Hong Kong, Macau, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Foshan, Zhongshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Jiangmen, and Zhaoqing into an integrated economic and business hub.

The Greater Bay Area Business Confidence Index (GBAI) is based on a quarterly survey of no less than 1,000 enterprises in key business sectors across main cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The index is calculated as an average of eight sub-indices that reflect different aspects of business activity. The index is designed as a diffusion index. An index above 50.0 means that respondents are generally optimistic about the business environment in the current (current index) or upcoming quarter (expectations), while an index below 50.0 indicates predominantly pessimistic sentiment. A value of 50 is neutral.
