In 2023, Iberdrola's direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (scope 1) amounted to almost 10.6 million metric tons of CO2 equivalent. Energy indirect GHG emissions (scope 2) stood at approximately 1.75 million tons of CO2 equivalent, down from 1.89 million tons in the prior year, whereas other indirect GHG emissions (scope 3) dropped from nearly 42.6 million tons of CO2 equivalent in 2022 to some 49.3 million tons in 2023. Iberdrola ranked amongst Spain's largest GHG emitter companies.
