This data is for the NACE Rev. 2 classification 47.19, Other retail sale in non-specialised stores. This includes the retail sale of a wide range of goods where food, beverages, or tobacco are not predominant and sales of department stores with a general line of merchandise.

Annual change in retail sales of department stores in European countries 2012-2021
2021 generally saw positive growth for sales of predominantly non-food, non specialized stores in European countries, as retail recovered from the setbacks of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The exception for this was Germany, where there was a *** percent drop in sales compared to 2020. This continued a trend of negative growth in this sector for Germany.
