According to a survey conducted in October 2021, a majority of over ** percent of participants in Tokyo knew the term "LGBTQ" as well as its meaning. In contrast to that, less than *** percent of respondents were unfamiliar with the term.
The acronym LGBTQ+, or just LGBT, refers to members of sexual minorities. The individual letters stand for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer or questioning, with the "+" including an additional and larger spectrum of sexual and gender identities.
