* Examples of mood disorder diagnosis are: bipolar disorder, dysthymia, major depressive disorder, post-partum depression and seasonal affective disorder.

A survey conducted in 2021 among U.S. adults diagnosed with a mood disorder outlined to which extent the respondents felt misunderstood. The query revealed that a total of 76 percent strongly agreed or somewhat agreed that the people around them do not understand what it's like to live with a mood disorder on a daily basis.
