In the fiscal year of 2018, * U.S. citizens were prosecuted in United States district courts. This compares with * non-U.S. citizens. Since the fiscal year of 1998, the number of non-U.S. citizens prosecuted has steadily increased relative to prosecutions of U.S. citizens. Prosecutions of both U.S. and non-U.S. citizens peaked in FY 2012.
