China has the world's largest gas power plant capacity in the pipeline. As of 2022, around 31.3 gigawatts worth of gas power capacity was under construction in China. This was in addition to 45.8 gigawatts, which are in the pre-construction stage. The total global gas power capacity in development was around 600 gigawatts at that time.
