According to the source, the analysis was made based only on ships assigned an International Maritime Organization number and over 100 gross tons. Service ships such as tugs, dredgers, offshore supply, military and governmental ships, or fishing vessels were excluded. Ports with a share of port calls in EU ports of less than 1 % were not included in the analysis.
