Consumption habits within the foodservice industry evolved in recent years. Online food delivery platforms and apps already established in the market before 2020 saw their popularity explode during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Coupled with the fact that many restaurant establishments had to close their doors to help stop the spread of the virus, it is not surprising that the share of on-site consumption within the Dutch foodservice industry fell over ** percentage points between 2019 and 2020.
