As of February 17, 2022, there had been approximately 139.5 thousand deaths due to COVID-19 recorded in England. When broken down by age, almost 37 percent of these deaths occurred in the age group 80 to 89 years, while a further fifth of deaths were recorded among over 90 year olds.
