A study conducted in Ireland in October 2020 asked children and teenagers which of the most common forms of cyberbullying they had experienced. Overall, 62 percent of girls and 56 percent of boys who had been victims of online bullying reported that they had been sent nasty or hurtful messages and 31 percent of female respondents and 17 percent of male respondents stated that nasty or hurtful messages had been passed around or posted where others could see. Additionally, 15 percent of boys and nine percent of girls said that they had been forced to do something that they did not want to do.
