The survey was conducted at medical facilities on one designated date set for each institution from three days in October.
The estimated number of patients refers to the number of patients who received treatments at medical facilities on the surveyed day. It excludes the number of returning outpatients who were not treated during that period.

As of November 2023, there were over **Â patients in a day with mental or behavioral disorders in Japan. More than half of them were patients visiting hospitals for outpatient care. The number of outpatients in a day exceeded that of inpatients for the first time in 2017.
