While a majority of respondents in all countries included in a 2020 survey agreed they wanted the world to change significantly and become more sustainable and equitable after the COVID-19 crisis, it is notable that the a higher share of respondents agreed with this statement in developing economies. Eight countries had more than ** percent of respondents agreeing with this statement, all of which could be considered developing economies: Colombia, Russia, Peru, Chile, Mexico, Malaysia, South Africa and Argentina. Conversely, the lowest-scoring countries were Germany and South Korea, with ** percent and ** percent respectively. While this suggests that people in developing countries are more keen for change, it may also be the case that this result is a product of sampling bias. The source notes that the survey participants in all of these countries (except Argentina) are "more urban, educated, and/or more affluent than the general population," and therefore cannot be considered representative of the country as a whole.
