*Railway accident definitions:
- 'Train collision': Accident where a train collides with or comes into contact with another train or rail vehicle.
- 'Railway crossing accident': Accident where a train collides with or comes into contact with a person, vehicle, etc., crossing the track at a grade crossing.
- 'Railroad track accident': Accident where a train collides with or comes into contact with a person, vehicle, etc., crossing the track at a place other than a grade crossing.
- 'Personal accident': Accident where the driving of a train or rail vehicle causes human casualties, excluding those resulting from derailments, fire outbreaks, or any of the accidents mentioned above.
- 'Property damage accidents': Accidents where the driving of a train or rail vehicle causes at least five million Japanese yen of property damage, excluding those resulting from any of the other accidents.
