As of 2025, the vast majority of global sovereign wealth fund (SWF) assets were managed through equity and fixed-income securities, totaling ** percent of the overall portfolio value combined. Illiquid alternatives accounted for an additional ** percent of total assets, while the remaining securities combined accounted for less than ** percent of global assets.

Sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) are state-owned investment funds that serve different purposes according to their mandate. Sovereign strategic funds (also known as development funds) are used to foster socio-economic development and generate a positive return while investing in strategic domestic sectors.
