Gender distribution: male accounted for 41 percent and female 59 percent;
Regions: about 81.5 percent of respondents were from first-tier, new first-tier and second-tier cities;
Marriage status: married respondents accounted for 52.5 percent and unmarried 47.5 percent, of which 24.3 percent were single and 22 percent were in relationships;
Income: about 92.8 percent earned less than 20,000 yuan per month after tax, of which 44.1 percent accounted for between 5,000 and 10,000 yuan (one yuan equals approximately 0.15 U.S. dollars and 0.13 euros as of August 2021).

According to a survey on home purchasing behavior in China conducted in January 2021, overall, acceptance of marriage without a purchased home among younger generations in China was lower than among older ones. Around ** percent of respondents aged 36 to 40 years found getting married without buying a home acceptable, compared to roughly ** percent of those aged 21 to 25 years.
