Opinion of the French on the media treatment of pedocriminality cases in Church 2019
If, in some circles, it is sometimes felt that there is "too much" talk about the pedocriminal cases that have taken place within the Church, and that it is precisely the fact of talking about them too much that would deteriorate the image and authority of the Church, such is not at all the feeling of a large majority of French citizens. The source had indeed questioned the French on this subject in the days following Pope Francis's refusal of the resignation of Cardinal Barbarin (condemned in first instance in March 2019 for not having reported to justice the pedocriminal acts of the priest Bernard Preynat). At the time of the survey, nearly half of them considered the media treatment of these cases to be insufficient, and ** percent thought that the topic was covered with the right frequency.
